Won the 2013 National Technology Invention Award
"Key technologies and applications of resource utilization of industrial vanadium chromium waste residue and heavy metal-contained ammonia nitrogen wastewater" won the National Technology Invention Award in 2013
 
On January 10, the results of the National Science and Technology Awards in 2013 were announced, and "Key technologies and applications of resource utilization of industrial vanadium chromium waste residue and heavy metal-contained ammonia nitrogen wastewater" won the Second Prize of the  National Technology Invention Award in 2013. Professor Xingang Li of our center was the second person who completed the study.
The project was completed by the Institute of Process Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Tianjin University. It is a model of collaborative innovation and cooperation mode. The main technical innovations and inventions of the project are: (1) Aiming at the current situation of similar chemical properties of vanadium-chromium and the lack of effective separation technology, a new extraction system for vanadium-chromium high-efficiency green separation has been developed to solve the theoretical and technical bottlenecks of intermediate layer prevention and control. The key to deep separation and recovery of vanadium and chromium has been achieved at home and abroad ; (2) A semi-continuous back extraction process and equipment has been developed for the heat-sensitive and easy-emulsified vanadium-rich organic phase to achieve long-term stable production operation of vanadium-chromium extraction/back extraction; (3) For the treatment of high-salt heavy metal ammonia nitrogen wastewater treatment, we have developed a chemically enhanced pyrolysis complex rectification technology and anti-scaling and high-operating elastic tower internals, to achieving more than 99% recycling of ammonia and heavy metals, greatly improving the removal rate of ammonia and nitrogen in wastewater, reducing energy consumption, ensuring that the wastewater is stable and meets the standards, and building an internationally leading NH3-N wastewater treatment platform; (4) We established a clean process and integrated system of "halogen-free sodium roasting, vanadium-chromium extraction separation, enhanced rectification of wastewater, and zero discharge" for the treatment of vanadium and chromium waste residues, forming a high-value clean utilization of vanadium and chromium waste residue with complete independent intellectual property rights, completing the new industrial design of 10,000-ton vanadium-chromium waste residue treatment industrialization.
The results of the project have effectively served non-ferrous metallurgy, heavy metal material processing and other industries, and have produced significant economic, environmental and social benefits. The demonstration project has cumulatively reduced emissions of more than 55,000 tons of toxic heavy metal residues, and reached nearly 3 million tons of wastewater up to standard, achieved recovery of 20,000 tons of ammonia, 4,500 tons of heavy metals such as vanadium, nickel, chromium and molybdenum, saving more than 500,000 tons of water, while creating direct economic benefits of more than 1 billion yuan. The project achievements will also provide core technical support for the utilization of other vanadium-containing chromium secondary resources, the treatment of high-concentration ammonia-nitrogen wastewater and the clean utilization of high-chromium vanadium-titanium magnetite.
This project won the First Prize of Liaoning Province Technological Invention in 2011 and the First Prize of Environmental Protection Technology Progress Award of the Ministry of Environmental Protection in 2012.
